‘90s Santa Cruz Heckler

Schumonster

Retro Newbie
Hi All,

I’m new here. I have a time capsule 90s Heckler that was bought for my now wife at the time and barely used. It’s got a Judy fork, Shimano triple, grip shifters and its original Panaracer tires.

I’m trying to figure out what to do with it. If it’s worth enough to someone as a time capsule I would part with it, so value is the first question.

If it’s not worth much than I’d be interested in some suggestions to modernize it so that it would be something I could occasionally take on local trails. ( I’m mostly a roadie, and haven’t yet found my way to gravel or MTB)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,
There's in general some interest at early Santa Cruz bikes and the Heckler is an iconic model. I'm also interested to get once one.
Yours, or the one of your wife, is also in obviously nice condition, most offers are Bikes pretty much used and almost gone.
So maybe it could sell a bit higher.

On the other side, it's from what i can see already the series 2.
https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/de-DE/bike/heckler/2The first one or the model Tazmon are the rare ones as those started the area of the cool and impressive Santa Cruz full suspension bikes.
Typically also clasic SC bikes are anyhow rather bikes for riding and not wallhager or real collectors items. Also the ones in good condition don't sell very expensive.

Unfortunately it looks like a small frame size, smaller than the average prospective buyer (mostly male) may need (so am I).
