After doing several Eroica Britannia's (latest one in 2019) I decided not to attend the 2022 version. Too much Maserati. ;)
I just booked a spot at the 54th edition of the 'Radweltpokal' in Austria. They do have a vintage ride on Saturday and a vintage time trial on Sunday. I'll be in the 61+...
Eroica Britannia 2018 will again take place at Friden Grange. I did not like the location in the middle of nowhere and at all. Also, the move of EB towards a big family happening with corporate sponsors was a bit too much for me. I will skip this time. I wonder if L'Ancienne in Ulverston could...
Paid my entrance fee for the ride a fe weeks ago. Today I got a refund without a word. Must have been cancelled. Either that or they won't allow foreigners like me anymore ;-)
Judging by the frame number in your pictures (Q4763) I would say it's 1979.

I am the happy owner of Q4786 that has the same "Harry Quinn" stamped in the fork crown.
Hope you can get it back on the road again!
I've always admired the gold 'box lining' on old (mostly black) frames. This Dutch video shows a 92-year old master builder who shows how it's done: straight from the wrist. Amazing :D

Having a similar frame in need of a respray, I was looking for decals and found these on http://bicycledecals.net/
Apparently this is a copy of the original, but to be honest I like yours better. :)
Re: Re:
Beautiful indeed, but unfortunately I can't get over the price :?
If you can, you will need cleats like these

in blue only, as far as I know...
Thanks all. I managed to get it off in one piece using a heat gun. Not sure what to do with it now. I might put it on my son's bike so he can impress his friends. Tom who? :D
I got myself an old Mercian King of Mercia frame, serial 63226 stamped in the rear dropout. Could this be 1963? It has a transfer on the seat tube where you would expect the 531 decal with Tom Simpsons head and signature (correct me if I'm wrong). It could have been applied later. Has anyone...
I have a bike from the Britisch Eagle factory in Powys which is branded Harry Quinn Classique. It's mid-80s, so shortly after Harry Quinn sold his company to Clements. A decent Reynolds 531 frame though and still a good ride. I too heard they built Barry Hoban branded bikes as well. The type...
The bike is light and fast. Partly due to the Shimano 600 and the Schwalbe tyres of course. The frame suits me nicely and and I love the red finish. It reminds me of a bike I had in the eighties. So riding it takes at least 25 years of my real age
