Help Identifying Vintage Bianchi Road Bike

Sam, The bike has had a bump and he head angle has gone up 2 or 3 degrees. Still perfectly rideable, but the frame geometry is not as original. If it feels OK to ride negotiate with the seller. Many on here will say its not rideable and dangerous, but it looks useable, although I cannot say...

Sam, yes that looks like a lump just behind the head lug, You may be able to feel it. Hoping its a photographic illusion, Keith

Help Identifying Vintage Bianchi Road Bike

Sam, find something you can use as a straight edge, and place it against the underside of the top tube next to the head lug. This is the bit where we used to lie on the floor holding the front wheel, with feet on the bottom bracket, and give it a tug, This needs someone above telling you when to...

Help Identifying Vintage Bianchi Road Bike

I Thought the front looked a bit short in the first pics. In the second pics (1986) it looks like the tube has a bend just behind the head lug. Nothing dangerous, but could have had a front end bump and possibly been pulled forward a bit. It may be just a pictorial illusion, but try some sort of...

    Claud Butler family heirloom

It is correct. The chain is too long, and it could use some top and bottom tension adjustment, all pretty easy and obvious. Keith

    What's this early frame?

The reason that bikes like this were only seen at the annual cycle show is that club riders never bought complete bikes. All the large makers had a "lightweight" model in the catalogue, some better than others. Also there were very few recreation cyclists.

    Guerciotti - or not?

As the seller listed it as "no return" and if you can prove it is a fake, you might be able to get a full refund and keep the bike. Keith

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Almost all would have been sold as frames. Anyone buying one would either replace existing frame, or purchase new parts over time . Keith

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Holdsworthy made these in the early 70's, they owned the Claud Butler name also, but used it for mid range frames. This was the top model, and also supply to the trade for own transfers. Keith

    Carlton Grand Prix - build

Your frame appears to have a Raleigh R/H bracket cup, which would be Left Hand Thread and 26 threads per inch. It would probably need a tool that bolts through the bottom bracket and at least 2 feet of leverage to remove it. The head set may also be 26 threads per inch (Raleigh standard) As the...

    Help dating Birmingham Sun frame

Looks like a Sun Wasp early to mid 1950s. Check the seat post diameter, probably butted 531, so 27.2mm? In the late 40s Sun still used their own cast lugs in better frames, Nervex were not common until 50s.

    Fixing a Victorian

I believe most US bike rims around 1900 were elm. Here in UK our best wood rims were American maple, made with 4 laminations, and made in Paris. Around 16 ounces, and nearly indestructible. No shrinkage, no need to retighten spokes. Keith

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

I'm sure you could use the tensioner and back pedal change, but why not have the excitement of using the Corsa as intended. you appear to have the complete Cambio corsa. The Gloria would be my ideal bike, would it possibly for sale? Unfortunately my legs do not work, but I could look at it. No...

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

I used 14 to 24 (5 speed) and 48 52, and could get the extreme gears, but the change is not accurate, sometimes jumping over 2 cogs. The big improvement with the Paris Roubaix was the adjustable cam and ratchet that slacken the chain. The only practical way to use the front changer is with a...

    Dayton ladies frame identification

Nothing "Mixte" about it, just a standard ladies frame, possibly wrong forks having trapped ends from what I can see.

    Fixing a Victorian

Woz, Long spoke nipples are not threaded right through, that would make them very difficult when the thread reached the unthreaded part of the spoke, which are normally rolled threads. Keith
