    1988 Yeti FRO

Mr. Spwal mentioned this thread and asked me to make some remarks. Having been the guy that welded these bikes together, I can assure you that we made frames in different configurations as required. It could certainly be a repair or something made out of spare parts at any point in time. We...

    Arrow mountain bicycles

Gus, the owner of Arrow has been around nearly as long as I, though he might say the opposite. He may have been the first person to build a dedicated slalom frame and has been developing/re-branding tires and rims for many years. Here is a link to Arrow. 'nice folks...

    30's project sought

I have been collecting for a while and also make frames and do mechanical repairs. I have restored some really old rusty bikes and greatly enjoy it. I would like to get a 1930's -1950's British racing bike (all UK). I would prefer something unusual and challenging. I am able to fabricate parts...

    selling my old Yeti

Hi, I worked at Yeti for a while and built this Yeti (I built the frame and may be the fork and welded the cranks, help design the stem and grips and brake levers and who knows what?) I used to ride it when I would visit my friends in SoCal. I pretty much forgot about it at some point. My...

Should I be worried about a crack in a moby post?

The first release of the Ringle posts were thinner material than later versions. It is likely yours is one of the few 1st get posts that made it to the public.

    Headtube cracks

Here is some more information. I hope this makes sense, I tend to ramble on. When welding aluminum, you really get very little weld penetration. If you were to cut the frame apart, you might see "drop-though" but very little penetration. Also, welding softens the material quite a bit. The...

    Headtube cracks

The issue with that frame is not the risk of the head tube breaking off, it's there is no longer any pressure holding the cup. Its "sprung". Put the bike on the wall. All metals are subject to fatigue failure. Aluminum has the lowest threshold for fatigue damage of materials used to make frames.

    Alexi Grewal's comeback

I hope he returns to form and reaches his goals. Few of us know the kind of pressure one might have faced in his situation. Good luck man!

I think the Valkyrie built by richard cunningham was the first modern E-stay bike. I may be mistaken however.

Any difference between Yeti and Accutrax forks?

whoa, seeing that pic of the cap with no hole gave me shivers. That is a really old one, from the bikes made in San Fernando or Burbank. When I started welding the forks, I was gradually allowed to make subtle changes (as mentioned) Among those, was using a vent hole. Since John lived near the...
