    Cyclocross..tell me about it :-)

Not quite - it's a mud clearance issue. Wide profile cantis can be set up with the pads miles away from the rim, which you can't do with Vs. We all know that cantis aren't that much cop stopping-wise so we just set them up for mud clearance and stay off the brakes. Not much use if you're using...

    When did skin/amberwall tyres stop?

Yes, lots of 47mm Dugast Rhinos in evidence at Dalby, very nice. Made a very distinctive sound as they came bombing along, too 8)

    1992 Cannondale Delta V

I originally had one of these back in 1993, after buying a '92 frameset from Mike Vaughan Cycles. I'd fallen in love with with the hardtail Delta Vs a year or so before, but as a 15-yr old it had taken me a year to save up for one. I stuck all the gear from my '92 Pine Mountain on to start...

I've got a single one of these but I'm not sure if it's left or right. I'll take a look tonight and get back to you.

Ideal bike and set up for Paris-Roubaix

I suppose it depends if it's wet or dry. Dry you could get away with (as seen last Sunday) 24/27mm tubs and a double wrap of bar tape. Carbon rims are do-able as wet braking isn't an issue, and they're strong. If it's wet then you're into cyclocross territory as mud clearance becomes an...

when does 'bling' go too far?

I've got the same brakes on my cross bikes - went for the full effect with gold pedals, bottom brackets, chains, headset spacers and bar tape. It looks better than it sounds, I swear :D

    Delta-V/Headshok Fork

I've got a functioning Pepperoni-bladed Delta V fork, only all the lockout assembly is stuffed :( So I'm looking for another fork, either a complete one (cosmetics unimportant) or one with a good cartridge and knackered bearings that I can use for parts. Either way it needs to have all the...

    Miserable Roadie Rant

There are miserable buggers everywhere in cycling! I see a lot of roadies when I'm out training in the Peaks (I'm one as well) and nod to them all. I get a nod back less than 50% of the time, whether I'm riding my MTB or my best summer racing machine. It's not just restricted to them, though...

Tim Gould's Team Peugeot Roberts White Spider

I was speaking to Tim a few weeks ago and mentioned this thread to him, so he might've read it. He's certainly seen some of the footage of himself that's popped up on YouTube :) "That'll make a nice bike for someone" was his comment about this Roberts.

    Has anyone used Transfil cables?

I use the Mudlovers ones on my cross and winter road bikes - They're not as smooth or light-action as Dura-Ace but are really fit and forget. I get a full cross season out of them with the old Gore gaitors fitted.
