Manual of vintage Ritchey Logic headset

Hello bikers, I have parts of two 90s Ritchey Logic headsets, but I don't know how to assemble those parts. Does anyone here have a manual of old Ritchey Logic headsets? Is the quality of those old headsets on par with modern headsets? Thanks.

    Formula disc brake standards 97/98

Hello, I have an old frame with an odd disc brake mount that has IS2000 hole distance. However, I cannot mount a modern PM disc brake adapter on it, because the seat stays don't leave enough room. Originally Formula disk brakes were mounted, but I don't know which standard they had to comply...

Re: I have an early 90s Dancelli mountain bike with a hand painted lugged steel frame. Does anyone know about the quality of those frames?

Trek mtb steel frames: frame quality

Thanks. Why did aluminium become mainstream frame meaterial? Because of customer demand or lower production costs?

Trek mtb steel frames: frame quality

Hello, what are your opinions on frame building quality of Trek frames from three different production periods which are exemplarily represented by three different bicycles: 1. 1986 Trek 850 2. 1991 Trek 950 3. 1995 Trek 950 How is the quality of old high-quality mtb frames compared to modern...

Any info about early 90s Dancelli mountain bikes?

Hello, does anyone here have some info about early 90s Dancelli mountain bikes? Dancelli mainly produced road bicycles, but they also produced some mountain bikes. Hower, I couldn't find any information about them.

    Question about steel frame quality

Thanks. The reason why I thought about welding a disc brake mount to an older frame and repainting this frame is that old bikes are often dead cheap and hence offer great value for the price. For example, the Raleigh frame in my previous post costs 10 € and I recently bought a Giant Coldrock in...

    Question about steel frame quality

Both very nice bikes, but I would prefer the MB-1. Do you know the weight of the Trek and Bridgestone bike? What would you pay for those bikes in a good (functional, not much rust, some paint defects) condition? I'm not a very aggressive biker and I use my mountain bike primarily as a touring...

    Question about steel frame quality

Ok. So the recipe "buy a good old frame and add some used or NOS components" is a good way to get a valuable custom bike for a very low price. What do you think about this 80s/90s Raleigh steel frame on the photo?

    Question about steel frame quality

My definition of a mass produced frame is a frame that had been produced in larger amounts, that is not too expensive and also easily available, e.g. made by Bianchi, Giant, Marin, Wheeler, Specialized, Raleigh etc. If the old frames are often as good as the modern ones, the main differences...

    Question about steel frame quality

Thanks. But one can generally say that a Raleigh 4130 chromoly, a Marin or a Specialized frame is a good buy or did the quality within those brands vary very strongly from one model to the other?

    Question about steel frame quality

Hello, which mass produced 90s steel frame bikes have in your opinion the highest frame quality and are those older steel frames basically on par with modern, sometimes very expensive steel frames? Where are the differences in regard to metal alloys and frame construction?

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

Compared to other frames of the same current price range. The Dynatech joints were glued and not brazed? Are there any older bikes with sleeve steel frames that you would recommend?

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

I've read this: Does this mean that only road bike frames had inferior quality? What about MTB frames like the Dyna Tech Diablo AL/STX? Are they on par with modern middle-class bike frames?

Mid range retro vs budget new

If you are lucky, you can even find older bikes with titanium or titanium/steel frames in your price range, which are better than most modern aluminium frames. Aluminium doesn't rust, but it suffers stronger material fatigue than steel and titanium and it has a very sudden breaking behaviour...

    Replacing Coda brake disc srews

No, I'm not in a hurry. The Coda manual, wich I found here http://media.cannondale.com/media/Manua ... ent_en.pdf says this: "Attach the rotors to the hubs with the supplied M5 x 12 bolts." However, can I replace Coda bolts with any M5 x 12 bolts or do I need special ones made by Coda?

    Replacing Coda brake disc srews

Hello all, I need to replace some old screws of my Coda brake disc, but I'm not sure which one I should buy as replacement. Do any M5 x 12 screws work? Thanks.

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

My SR Duo Track 8001 fork is broken and I'm not really sad about that. So you would say that 63 mm is the maximum fork travel distance, but what about the installation height? 450 mm is too much in your opinion? The problem is that people have so many different opinions about that, some even say...

You're right, I need a larger frame size. Where do you see the fork travel limit for a mid 90s Torus XT?
