Frankenstein rescued! - Fisher Prometheus - Part 6 - First ride

I was just maed aware of this thread from a link elsewhere. Great job on the restoration! I worked in a shop that sold Fisher when this frame was introduced, and had a co-worker who bought and built one. They are rare enough that it is great to see one occasionally. Thanks for the memories.

    The MS Racing/alpinestars story.

Re: I just found this thread from a link on facebook. Good history. I sold Alpinestars bikes brand new at the shop in which I worked in the early 90's. I have one correction to the history in the original post. The 1991 T-24 bike did not have 24" wheels as mentioned in the original post, but...

Just joined, thought i'd see if anyone has heard of my bike?

Research Dynamics was a snow ski company based out of Sun Valley, Idaho, USA in the late 80's and early 90's. That bike should be around 1990. I believe the 1991 model was black, and the 1992 model was silver. If I remember correctly, they came originally with a Shimano Deore DX kit. Some...

Bridgestone MB-0 (Zip) frame info request

My 1989 MB-1 has an indented chain stay to clear the chain rings. I'll post a photo when I get the chance.

    Show me your single speeds!

    1. Built mine to get a pile of parts off my garage floor. They are easier to move around the garage and storage is easier when built into a complete bike. 2. There is also the macho thing: I get a kick out of hearing people on geared full sussers say "cool, rigid and single" or "wow, you...

Retro or Modern - What do we prefer riding?

Tough question. I never owned a modern bike until November of this last year. I have only 3-4 rides on it and still don't have the controls, shock, fork, brakes dialed in to where I am comfortable on it. My vintage bikes, however, are dialed in just the way I like them and I tend toward...

Anyone fitted 700c wheels on a MTB frame?

Here is a nice write up on a bike that goes both ways: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=238365 Years ago, Grant Peterson suggested the 1988 or 1989 Bridgestone MB-1 was designed to accept 700c wheels and the fork and rear brake bridge were drilled to fit road calipers. I fitted my...

Fitting a Pannier Rack to My RC200

Wayne at www.TheTouringStore.com has many solutions for different rack mounts. However, if the frame is not up to it, look at picking up a cheap steel bike, or a frame and moving your parts over for the tour. I just picked up a complete 1989 Bridgestone MB-1 for next to nothing in the local...

    First FUNK

I haven't spoken with him in close to 20 years. I got out of the business several years ago. I think I saw him at Interbike a few years back, but didn't get a chance to speak with him. I'm sure he wouldn't have known me anyway.

    First FUNK

I have been a member for a short time here, but in that time I have seen that many of you are fans of FUNK bicycles. Therefore, I thought I would share this photo I took of Daryl with what I believe was his first bike back in 1988. He stopped by our shop and introduced himself and let us ride...

Thanks for your replies. Scenery is great here. Above locations are within 10k of my house. Colorado has 300+ days of sun per year, but not always warm and sunny.

    Newbie Paramount Moots Marin Alpinestars

Thanks all for the welcome. I like the Moots because the soft tail allows longer days in the saddle without the fatigue of a rigid bike, and there is little maintenance. However, this is my first Ti bike and the rear end feels a little flexy to me. My other bikes are all Prestige steel...
