Yo Eddy for the 21st Century- update: plans for phase two.

I am not a big fan of neo retro , but when done properly it works and yours is a great example .

I would change the seat post though , a Ringle would look so much better .

I would like a Ringle one but....

Mint red ones in that size are getting rare and cost a fortune. This bike is no garage queen and is going to get some serious use. My local trails are very steep in places and its gritstone and clay too- it will look very rough in a few months and I could not bring myself to ruin a good Ringle post.

The bike is very beautiful but it just came to my mind that since you're using modern disc brakes and fork, why wouldn't you upgrade shifters and derailleurs as well? Not necessarily X.0 or XTR M970 but for example XTR M952 ?

I did ponder this over. However I came to the conclusion that it would be change for changes sake. M900 shifts as well and is as light as M950 so changing would offer no real benefit. The real progress in MTBs is the braking and grip levels of tyres in my opinion so these were the items i wanted to change.

I have the same wheels on my Chute FFS!

Why not get Gil to do some retro Mavic decals so they look period correct but are bang up to date

Thanks for your kind comments guys. i was half expecting to get lynched :?

I think that only applies to botched jobs.
But when something involves a lot of work and thought like this bike or your klunker project, and the workmanship is top quality, then it's great to see someone's ideas come together. Anyway, it was basically dead when you got it, so well done.

It's PLENTY bright enough on my monitor, BTW
