X Shifter Wireless shifting

Was it easy to set up?
Interesting to see how it performs long term. One problem I see is that it is still susceptible to the usual cable issues, such as stretch and water and grit getting in. Will it still need fettled with as time goes on.
With AXS, once it’s set that’s it. Also, it’s the mech itself that’s powered, so the motor makes shifts really smooth. Obviously at a price though.

Once set up via a mobile phone app then completed and should not need changing/adjusting. It's easy to set up depending how easy you find IT tech stuff. Its much easier with two people. One turning the cranks while one adjusts the settings via the app. Now i'm using the wife's mobile and i have a bad record with IT/mobiles so brave of her to let me use her phone. The biggest problem for me was fitting to my Trimble. The box at the mo may well get slapped by the chain? So may move to under the stay. I like the hidden look as it is. The box is sealed to stop dirt/water getting in. An added bonus for me was i lost 2oz over cables. Thanks to the shifter being only 16 grams and i can now use my 117 gram alloy cassette. The system has a sleep mode to save battery life. A press of the shifter gives a quick wake up. If you want you can have voice commands !! So no hands.
My Trimble is in the 13lb 5oz area with Conti boots. Mud boots add a few oz. The joy of this system is i have no brand telling me what i can use or not use. Oddly i like roadie parts and yet hate road cycling :facepalm:
The only limited is the what the mech is made to run on. So i can use the mech up to a 30 teeth cassette but not with a bigger cassette. So i could use a 11 mech or a 9 speed mech as long as i don't go beyond the max teething.
All the other wireless systems would mean i have to buy a new mech and cassette. Then i would have to change the freebody on the hub. That means more ££££ and more weight
this way i can keep what i like, lose weight and have a better looking T

How was the original cable routing, Ok or a complete ball ache? Does this improve the shifting?
It’s an interesting concept, certainly advantageous on a tandem, recumbent or hand cycle with long cable routes or awkward shifter positions.
30t limit rules it out immediately for me though, way too fat at the moment to cope with that!
Amazing the difference losing the cabling makes to how your bars look. I recently added an AXS Reverb to my Saffron, leaving just the brake cables and a short hydraulic fork lock out. Looks mint.
Size of cassettes you like, I’d be saving for SRAM XDR Road AXS. That Trimble would look amazing with it.

The cable before was fine. Just my chinese alloy cassettes weren't machined as close to Shimano as my shifters liked. So never changed well. looked at the 'others' But cost and changes put me off. This was the easiest and cheapest way of getting what i wanted.

You should be able to go to a bigger cassette if you use a mech dropper...then you are limited only by the tooth difference...which at 29T should make an 11-40 feasible, although the mech drop might make the higher gears vague. Also a short chain run between the bottom of the cage and the chainset will make the chain run at a very sharp angle between the bottom of the chainset and the cage.
