I'm not sure it would buff up to be honest, not that I know much about buffing saddles, but I wouldn't want you to get something you're disappointed with?

I've got some modern Alu bars going for £5 inc postage... Not sure if they'd fit the 70's ethos, and they are oversized dia, so you may stuggle with the stem.
