Hi
As I've posted this one in September RBotM I'd better do a quick build thread.
Picked up a cheap 84 RRA frameset off Ebay as it was my size (21.5") and I was looking for another project (not really but I couldn't turn it down).
I knew from the start that I wouldn't be putting drops on it so I had a scout round the my garage/parts bins to see what I had that would suit it without losing its identity.
Found Golden Arrow front and rear derailleurs, handlebars, SR stem, Laprade seat post, Giant saddle, a set of Mavic MA2 700c wheels with RX100 hubs, Weinmann levers and a pair of Shimano Tourney brake calipers.
The rear Shimano hub was swapped for a Miche one to accept a screw-on 6 speed freewheel.
So then it was off to the local bike shop to see what they'd got in their jumble.
Picked up the original fitment Sugino GS 42/52 chainset and a NOS Altus stem changer for a few £s.
Ebay provided Vredstein tyres, Sunrace freewheel and KMC X8 chain and bar grips.
It all went together as (loosely) planned then all came to bits again to fit the H Lloyd decal set and lacquer top coat.
Not everyones cup of tea I know but at my age I can't be doing with drops!
