Why don't you like it? Not saying I do, just would honestly like to hear your opinion/criticisms about it.
As a brand, I don't really like Muc-off in general (I'm more of a Finish Line person).🤷‍♂️

I had a new bike that the shop set up using it. Where it sealed the bead it left a very strange, sparkly residue. When I swapped a tyre out for a different one it was very thick slimy and a nightmare to clean up compared to Stan’s. Also needs double the volume of Stans to go the same job. Didn’t run it a huge amount of time and no punctures have heard to can be slow to seal as it’s so thick. Was that manky after the changed tyre, I cleaned out the other one and filled with Stans as well. Made it easier for me to just keep one type for all bikes.
Only tyres I had Stans actually dry up in were a set of lightweight xc tyres. All my heavier casing ones last at least a year.
 
Trouble with Stans is that it dries into thick blobs in a matter of a few months. Lot of work and cost keeping on top of that....sure you can just add fresh, but if you keep doing just this you will end up with a very heavy solid tyre!
 
Who wants to stand there ejaculating into a tyre when you could be burning through rubber in the parking lot with the other fetishists?

Not sure what tyres are on your new ride, though I was referring more to the compounds and tech of newer tyres in regard to puncture prevention, stability etc.

Hmmm….I have not had this. In fact because of location I have to leave a couple of DH bikes without much attention for a few months and when I came to replace the front tyre on the Grom’s rig the tyre had been stationary for 4 months; there was about 2/3 the volume of fluid and no snot balls at all. This was the standard Stans, not Racing Stans. It could be that there is an interaction between the tyre polymerisers and the Stans in some tyres, or that there is the same bizarre ‘tyre weeping’ which I have on putatively tubeless ready Specialized tyres, which for me have been …. Pants.
 
to answer the original question, yes sealant is overpriced. i've tried cheaper versions, but so far always revert to stans. i believe mtbr.com has threads detaiing how to make your own sealant, but i've never tried it

tubeless set up is more time consuming than tubes, but my rate of punctures has massively reduced since converting to tubeless. when I replace a worn out tyre i'll check the inside of the carcus & its often has thorns still in it, tubeless sealed it & I kept riding without my even noticing. the other pro is being able to ride less air pressure for considerably more grip & comfort, as you dont have to run high air pressure just to prevent snake bite impact punctures., that you do with innertubes.
