Why does tyre sealant cost $40 a litre?🤔

When fresh milk costs AU$1.60/litre.

I'm starting to think Mavic's UST was superior, and I haven't even started my tubeless venture yet!

It just seems... seems almost like yet another subscription service.
Having to top it up all the time, continually forking out money on consumables.

Going to work last November - on time for meeting - ppffffffftttttttt - out comes a spray of sealant. Seals in 20 seconds.
Not late for work. Stans: Worth every penny.

Going home before Christmas - very very cold - pppfffffftttt - out comes a spray of sealant, stop, bounce bike, seals.
Not cold and wet for 30mins changing tube on singlespeed. Stans: Worth every penny.

The Grom on his Patrol - full tilt in Welsh Forest - pppffffttttt - covers the hill in pink MucOff. Fiddle with plugs. Doesn’t work.
Then 30 mins of faffing with tubes and pink fluid, mountain looks like an abattoir. MucOff: switch to Stans.

Yeah but you only need 60-100ml per tyre depending on size, so it’s all pretty relative.

UST was an decent concept but you still need some sort of sealant to deal with trailside punctures otherwise it’s inner tube time, every time. Throw in special spoke nipples and the extra hassle of replacing spokes plus more expensive rims due to tighter tolerances required and it’s not worth it.

The truth is, the early days were hit and miss with ghetto set ups and variable quality and compatibility issues but this isn’t new tech any more and it just works. Takes a bit of learning but it works.

if only someone would invent a low cost way to hold air inside tyres without all this effort. it might have to weigh a little bit more, but I reckon only a few grams.

nar, that'll never take off. :)
I know this is Retrobike but can we have one argument without someone brining weight into it. 😜

I got 3 bottles of Muc-off tyre sealant for £1.99 a bottle from Aldi, not sure on size without looking maybe 300ml
