Why cut a seatpost????

can someone tell me what is the minimum you can cut down one say from underneath the seat down in mm.

I can tell you if it's a USE post and shimmed, then as long as the shim

A lot of seat tubes are butted tubes, so the only part in contact would be the reamed out section anyway ?

I always want to cut mine, but I tend to use the same post in all my bikes (or did until I my now different sized tubes) and one bike need the long 400mm post, the other doesn't.

Might go and chop it for fun, I cannot see any reason why not too.

I leave 52 mm approx. But a Trimble is not like other frames concerning the amount of post in the frame.

Poor Klein owners have to leave a lot more

I'd add a bit longer as you always need tweaking space for different shoes or a change of seat and things

Sorry, wrong thread But the same rule applies here.

I generally cut my seatposts down to a more reasonable size, mainly to shave a few grams for free, it's not like I change seatposts or frames every month.
The Proflex thing is a little annoying too, I HAD to cut down the carbon seatpost to allow me to actually sit on the thing, and you can't even drop the seatpost for steep descents either
I like the idea of platform SPD's though maybe there should be a Disco theme to a future Retrobike ride?
