That looked great in that colour and it practically matches your hair colour to ;o so why get rid of the Summit after only a year was it not what your mates had eh! or did you just think the Kona looked cooler at the time although i pretty much admire your determination at that age to earn money on 2 paper rounds to get get everything you wanted for the Kona ..

It started life as a 1993 Hahanna in red and silver.
Silver at front and red at the back.

Few mates had Konas, it must have been destiny as I still love Konas now.
The Sloping top tube and the name just looked cool.
One mate had a 1992 Explosif.
Another had a 1993 Lava Dome.

So i was on the right track then but you must miss not having the Summit even if it's just
for the memories of riding it but yes i can relate to wanting a kona hence why i've finaly got one myself but having my Ravine completes my small bike collection and i doubt i'd ever get rid of it tbh .

Raleigh highlander. local to me and all of £10.50 a week ago. Just been fiddling tonight.

Biopace chain ring, 200Gs shimano. canti brakes. Still has the stickers on the headset and cranks... tyres still have some nobbles on. clearly not had a lot of use. Saddle is not original - took that original one off for now.

Nice one mate that looks really cool and it's amazing to think all those original parts are still on it after all this time so whats the condition of the saddle like as i'd expect to see some splits caused through ageing and changing weather temps unless it's been kept indoors by the previous owner..

I bet that saddle made riding Peugeot a real pleasure as well as looking the part .

That yellow could do with a bit of a clean but yes i prefer the setup in the 1st pic even though i'm a fan of purple i think the silver bar ends looks better and that saddle looks real comfy ..

I've never seen a Lizard in the metal after all this time since they 1st came out i'd only ever seen them in mtb magazines so maybe one day who knows and what part of Manchester are you in as i'd like to meet up sometime after i've got my Ravine on the trail again ? ..

It was good - I'd have held on to it but I didn't realise they were worth having until it'd moved on to pastures new attached to the Pug - that was the first bike I'd built a couple years ago when I was 17/18, took me a lot of places including the Tour de France up Woodhead last year - performed surprisingly well on the hills for a s/s!
The purple saddle was a Selle Bassano, it was good too! Ruined when the Raleigh threw me off though
I think I still have those bar ends somewhere (all that's left... and the only thing that didn't need replacing!) as they're pretty light (alu I think), they might even be lighter than the X-Lites I've got somewhere.
I live in Stalybridge but I'm in Manchester a lot for uni. I'm also currently bikeless but hopefully not for long - I'm on the hunt for something trail-worthy at the moment. My Kona's set up as a city bike/hybrid.

Ah well i've been in a similar situation regards not knowing the value or should i say the future value of certain items as i've let bikes go for peanuts in the past only to realise now i could've got back what i originally paid for them :facepalm: but unfortunately we only learn through experience :| ..

Woodhead pass and the tour de france on the old Pugeot bike eh! now i am jealous :mrgreen: well regards Le Tour that is as i'd been wanting to go see that for yonks ..
Well i've never owned a Selle Bassano saddle my self but they do sure look comfy and very good quality and a real shame yours got ruined .

X Lites are suppose to be top quality well they were pretty well sort after back in the late 80s so you live in Stalybridge well that's not far away from me to come an visit sometime when your back home and you have got sorted with another ride and i bet uni can be a bit restricting at times but it will be worth it in the long run mate ..

I just love the colour scheme on these Raleigh's but that saddle suspension setup just looks weird to me and i can't make up my mind whether i like it or not where as the flexstem to me has always looked cool ..

I have had this Raleigh M-Trax 700 Ti in the shed for three years. It was a tip find that I am planning to finally get round to building as a winter project.

Nice find mate and it should make for a really nice build with a bit of paint touch up and a T cut an polish it should look more than up to the job so have you got everything for the build or just searching for parts as you go along ? ..

Luckily I've got more than enough mid 90s stuff in the shed to pick from, including about five wheelsets. I karma'd the ti bull bars to someone on this site as I didn't like them at all. Toying with the idea of stripping the ti tubes and just leaving them polished, but that's not certain yet.

It seems to me like your pretty much organised and no i'm not a fan of bull bars either as they just seem well weird to look at :roll: and though i'm a fan of the naked frame polished look but theirs the down side of trying to keep it clean ..

my 1994 Raleigh MT300, my first mt bike I bought it new, according to bikepedia its a 1994 only model??
a few changes of course, tore up the original seat in a few crashes, bought the specialized future shock back in the day, still have the rigid fork in a box and the stx hubbed wheelset [on a specialized hard rock[198?] frame I got in a trade.
made it a XT 24 speed with XT shift/brake/derailleurs, it still sports its black stx cantis and its stx crankset, , but I have a set of XT cantis to switch over to, when I get some spare time.....
its the reason I love the retro bikes........
