I used to have a yellow Max  it was a good bike for what it was - unfortunately it needed more than it was worth in parts, a lot of which were seized in place and/or knackered so when the drivetrain locked up and threw me off going down a hill, I scrapped it. On the plus side it came with a Turbo saddle which I took off as soon as I'd bought it, which offset the initial (low!) cost a little.

Unfortunately some Raleighs were made too cheaply imo so what happend to the Turbo saddle then ? ..

Got a 94ish M-Trax Ti/Cromo which is my Kiddie Carrier / Trailer bike, fully rigid and gate sized it has a smattering of XTR and its current usage is slightly cruel but its effective

I remember seeing that on the forum a few weeks ago and tbh i felt a tad jealous when i saw it  but it's a great piece of kit which must be a real pleasure to ride you lucky  ;) ..

Don't just abuse it mate go get it out there on the trails and enjoy it for what it is as it deserves a little respect at least and a couple of pic's would be appreciated mate ;) ..

Raleigh, back when they were a quality bike maker.
:)

To true Ian ;) and it's just a real shame the company isn't churning out decent bikes any more  ..

Had a Lizard from Empire Stores, kept going wrong, sent it back and got a Massif.
Yukon stolen.
Got the Peak, bent the frame, replaced with a Summit.
:)

The Lizard wasn't the best Raleigh ever made but it doesn't help when ordered through the catalogues as they tend to be poorly assembled and the massif was quite a hefty bike from what i heard where as the Yukon ,Peak & Summit all have that lovely Reynolds tubing and it's a pity about the Yukon and Peak as they were good bikes and as for the summit Enough said  ..

Just one question how'd you right off the Peak  and did you save any parts off it ;) ..

I've got a couple.. but it's not fair to say 'back then when..' Raleigh always produced poorly-made rubbish, but alongside them some gems too - particularly the higher-level MTB's and the Dyna-tech/RSP bikes, not to mention the racers.

Raleigh do however still churn out some really good, really nice bikes these days too! They don't 'make' bikes anymore, not like they used to of course (not many do..) but take a look at modern Raleighs too - there's some really good stuff out there amongst the dross, as always..

Re:

If Raleigh means the bit that Raleigh made, then I've got a Raleigh and have had for a few years.

Raleigh Dune Dancer frame, it's a big 'un and it's shiny ... so to speak

Unfortunately it's in need of all the parts that make it move.

I really must get my a$$ in gear and build it up.

Or sell it to widowmaker on this forum, he likes big Raleigh's

Well Osella i can only comment on what i believe to be true and while i know that their are some real gems out there that Raleigh have made and of course some quite rubbish one's too but i wouldn't of started this thread if i didn't already have a liking for certain Raliegh bikes and tbh i'd of thought that this type of thread would of already of been started by a fellow enthusiast but ufortunately i couldn't find one ..

Welll their was only this particular thread that you found which was recent .
Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread..

Which is very interesting but it only refers to one type of Raleigh and doesn't allow for all so it was my intention to cover all Raleigh models in this thread ..

If it's Raleigh then lets have a pic and don't sell it on just get a build thread up regardless of how long it takes to buid it up again as i'm sure their's more than just me that would like to see it take shape into it's final form ;) ..

We still have the Massif, nobody wanted to buy it.
Bent the Peak frame doing jumps, took it back, 15year on frame?
Got the Summit.
