First bike I actually bought with my own money was from PDE Cycles, Wessex Road, Yeovil, in 1989.
It was a sale model from the previous year, a Dawes Jackal. Didn't like the Muddy Fox I tried! It weighed a ton, had a lugged frame, and was too big for me. But it gave me my first taste of mountain biking and it pretty much changed my life forever.
My Dad at the time had some pseudo MTB from my Mum's catalogue with road tyres on, when we went out he had to stop every so often to turn the thing upside down and drain the water out of it....
Edit: Look what I just found! I look taller than I remember and the bike looks smaller.... :facepalm:
