This really takes me back to my penniless student days in the 80s. I remember one of the college staff arriving on a yellow one in 88/89, sometime, and it caused a right stir. Soon after, the college quadrangle started filling with assorted mountain bikes as the biking buzz grew. I'd torment myself by continually looking through the catalogues lusting after the 601GS, 700, 703DX, 704XT. Then I ended up with a Marin that someone was selling on :facepalm: May be people didn't hang on to their Ridgebacks for long as they lusted for tricker rides. May be they weren't looked after or valued as much as the more glamorous brands or just ended up in the wrong hands. I would have loved one though – still would.
