Whats my frame made from

I have this old bespoke frame and im trying to find out if its titanium or aluminium. Its light and also polishes up ok with soft wire wool.

There are some deep scratches that the wire wool wont touch so im wondering if its raw aluminium instead of titanium. Also it has a high pitch ping when you hit it with an allen key.

If anyone can help me find out im in Nottingham is there anywhere i could take it to find out?

Definitely not aluminium. But stick a magnet to it to make sure it’s not steel. If it sticks it’s steel if not then titanium.

The seat post has another piece of metal inside the downtube. Anyone no if that was how it should be done?

Definitely looks Titanium, but I will wait for someone to come and tell you why it isn't... The alloy insert is to help stop seat posts from seizing.

Yes that's a shim and it belongs in there. Definitely looks like titanium to me.

No numbers on it anywhere thats why im assuming its a bespoke built frame possibly titianium and i havent got a clue what to do with it or where to start with it. I thought polish the scratches out first then go from there
