Think you bought that frame and forks from me eBay .
nice to see u are making good use of them .
if it feels good with 100mm forks then go for it ,not like u running monster ts
,ive seen people using kona hahanna as jump bikes so if your happy with it thats all that matters, could improve the handling ???

Thanks lads! Plenty of food for thought there.... The forks are super lightweight XC ones, so could be spoiling the Hahanna/Lava Dome/Whateveritis a bit, but as I've got them and they were cheap, may as well try and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure no steel framed Kona's were ever specced with forks over 75mm until at least 2001, but I'm happy to be proved wrong. I think using a 100mm fork is totally down to preference, I ran one for a while on a 1998 Lavadome frame and it didn't really suit my riding style so I went down to a set of 75mm Z2's which were perfect.
I do remember that back in about 1998 the Kona sponsored trials team all used tiny Kulas so if they were strong enough for trials then I'm sure one of their steel frames would be fine for 100mm forks!

97 catalogue had 4" Z1 as and option , think it was more a case of 100mm forks didn't exist or were extremely rare pre then , as the longer forks became available they got used , frame geometry wasn't altered to suit until way later .
