what was your SECOND mountain bike?

I upgraded from my (what felt like) solid lead red & black raleigh mustang to a black 1991 kona lava dome. I really wanted it in purple but there was no stock so I had to have the black one - which still annoys me to this day.
What annoys me more is that it got stolen a couple of years later.

And the Renthal Bars are the same as the orignal ones that broke near the barend clamps.

Funny that, I had 2 pairs that went in exactly the same place. The first in a crash and the second when climbing and the bar end came off in my hand !

1994 Marin Pine Mountain. Bought as a frame only as I wanted to add my own bits and wasn't convinced by 8-speed...

...For that matter I'm still not and all my bikes have 7s cassettes.

Claud Butler Comp (?) Polished alloy. Was a nice bike!

awesome avatar steve :D

2nd bike was a specialized team stumpjumper & aside from moving away from the under chainstays U brake improvement it was about 4lbs lighter than the ozark

1992 Kona Explosif in Gold. Picked it up after end of '92 season for good money. Stupidly bought 20" and I'm not even 5'11"!

Sold in just over a year as it was just too big. Loved the ride though

second bike was my xizang, bought it frame and forks and transferred all I could from my rockhopper, I nearly went for a trimble but 50% off the GT in the sales was too good to miss. I don't regret it.

Bit embarrasing, it was an Edinburgh Bicycle Contour 300  .

Seriously better than a Townsend but then what isn't.

A real bargain at the time though as it had compact chainset, cartridge B/B, freehub, 21 speed gripshift, lots of Shimano bits and a well made if heavey frame all for £200. I think it was 1995 or 96, often wish I'd kept it !
