What size KONA!!!?? do you ride?

im 5.11 and ride 18" well my voodoo is a 1/4" smaller allround. it fells easy to throw around, 19" feels like a road bike to me

6'2", 33 inseam and ride a 20" 98 Caldera with a 90mm stem. Possibly the best fitting bike I've ever ridden.

ABout 5'9" with 31" inseam and ride a '98 & '94 19" frames, also have a '96 18". Earlier had '91 18", which seemed very close to the later 19". A '92 20" (C2T measured) was just too big.

teeny weeny bike!!

I'm 5'10" and my Cindercone is 16" - legs are 31" and it was always comfy to ride, when its rebuilt I may change my mind.

I'm 6'1 with 32" inside leg and ride 17 or 18" framed Konas, usually with 150mm stems, because I like a small stretched out frame...

Point of note: it would be interesting to know how people are measuring their Konas because a lot go by the distance from the centre of the BB to the centre of the top tube but Kona measure to the top of the seat tube itself.

Quoting from my Kona Owner's Manual; 'The seat tube length designation is measured as the length from the middle of the bottom bracket to the top of the 3" seat tube extension. It is more relevant to determine the proper top tube length for you...'

I am 5'11" with an 18" 1994 Kilauea. It rides lovely.

It has a 110mm Easton stem, I am going to try a 60mm Easton Vice stem to see how it feels!!!!

My numbers are C2T,
'94 Explosif 19" measured
'98 Kilauea 19" measured and size (owned from new)
'96 AA 18" measured but sold/purchased as a "19"

And previously had
'92 Cindercone 20" measured but sold/purchased as a "19" (too big)
'91 Fire Mountain 18" no measurements, but seemed to be about the same size as later measured 19's.

There was definately a change between '91 and '92 - regarding "size" and TT length.

lm 5'11" with 32" inside leg and my 18" '98 Hot is pretty spot on with a 90mm stem, 80mm marz fork. l previously had a 19" '98 KK which l found too long and with an 80mm manitou on the front not a lot of clearance either.

l've recently purchased a '97 Explosif in 17" which may well prove a bit on the small side but lm looking forward to building it up and testing it anyway :)

Starting at 1991

we have
http://www.konaretro.com/articles/catal ... Outer4.jpg

1992 gain 1/2" in the toptube and wheelbase alterations (gains and losses ?)
http://www.konaretro.com/articles/catal ... 2Page8.jpg

1993 oddly looses ~1/2" wheelbase, 18" gains a degree at the seat and the fork rake is altered by a gnats fart.
http://www.konaretro.com/articles/catal ... 993/15.jpg

1994 sees the split in the range for dimensions 'el cheapo's become 'comfort' i.e 1/2" shorter toptube and wheelbase
http://www.konaretro.com/articles/catal ... 994/22.jpg
and I think this continues
etc until you get to 1997 where we have a nice pics and Fork rake has altered here and there.

1995/6 are in the archives if anyone really wants to check them up.

I'm 6ft1 and I ride a 18" Kona cindercone 1992. It feels fine. I have made that way by using a lean back seatpost and I have quite a long stem.

My knees get a bit close to the bars when I stand up but not too close for them to have a chance of hitting. I have 34" inside leg as well.
