What mountain bikes did you own BITD?

1989 - specialized hardrock sport…..”upgraded” it at the time with LX and Quadra 10’s, thought I was the mutts nuts. Later upgraded the brakes to XT V brakes!
2001 - specialized stumpjumper FSR.
2006 - Santa Cruz superlight mk2 (stolen).
2009 - Santa Cruz superlight mk3 (stolen).
2010 - Trek Top Fuel.
2014 - Whyte 901? fully rigid.
2015 - Santa Cruz superlight (again).
2017 - Santa Cruz 5010 mk2.

Current retro rides:
Gary Fisher pro calibre ‘95/96 - complete.
GT RTS Team 94’ - in build.

Sometime in the later 80's and into the 90's.

1st - New. a box store MTB of un-remembered brand for a commuter
2nd - Used. 198? Schwinn High Sierra in black chrome. Had the chainstay U-brake.
3rd - Used frame. Self built. 1985 Mongoose ATB with a Trek DS2 fork
4th - Used Mongoose MGX D50i. My first full suspension
5th - Used KHS DJ 200

Those bikes are all gone but have been replaced with a new set of vintage MTBs from BITD

2000 GT i-drive.

My first was in 1986 and it was a Peugeot Ranger. I reckon it weighed more than my three modern mountain bikes put together. Terrible canti brakes on chromed steel rims that gave only a suggestion of slowing down, gears higher than a modern road bike, tyres with no grip etc. I loved it. Used to carry it miles up welsh mountains. Made me the man i am today. 🙄 Peugeot 1988 UK Brochure Pg22.jpg

90 Raleigh mirage
91 GT Talera
92 DiamondBack Apex
95 Mongoose Iboc zeroG

I then saved up and bought a really lovely giant. I can't remember the model but it had full dx and a pearlescent purple, blue, pink paint job which was stunning. Sadly after it's maiden proper ride I cleaned it up so as good as new and it got stolen later that day. The following day my 531 framed Peugeot aravis 105 groupset bike got stolen.
Escaper? If so, you don't happen to have a record of the frame number do you? Very unlikely but if the one I rescued from the local tip is a match I'd love to reunite a bike with it's rightful owner. The only reason I have any suspicion as to it's provenance is the fact it was barely used & sans-wheels. Just throwing it out there in case haha
