That Pace looks bloody good with added dirt...! That's a good illustration of the points made about patina and wear and tear etc...

That's not patina; that's the ducks agreeing with me. :p

i think you'll find the ducks are the only ones agreeing with you. ;)

Perhaps the ducks and Sub are the only ones with a sense of humour.

well i'm not going to defend my sense of humour, thats not what this thread is for, but refering to a pace as a BSO. well thats just "paceism" :D
now lets get back to the thread.

On down tube routed gear cables. The outers routed to the oppsosite sides and the inners crossed over on the down tube so the outers don't rub the headtube.

Gah! Horrible cable on cable binding :x

I suppose you could sleeve them, is that what you do? I have done some interesting routing, including this and crossing the outers just behind the headtube, befroe the first stop, but cable against cable was just nails-on-blackboard hideous

Mine have been like this since 1994... I can't say I can feel any binding but whilst the head tube may well have been protected the down tube has a rusty section where mud and grit behind the crossed over cables has scraped off all the paint. Mind you, there's rust in about a thousand other places too so I'm not that bothered :D

Personally I like to see tidy looking quill stems, flat bars, thumbshifters, shark fin, and controversially a saddle bag / mini pump / mudguards - stuff that people who actually ride their bikes in places more challenging than the local park tend to carry :)

They don't touch on any of the builds ive done I was taught it at a pro mechanics seminar early 90's even if they touch for the width of an inner the fact your outers aren't going to the wrong side of he head tube means your shifting is better anyway.
