Wear your helmet...??

Fair enough, but

I'm still not convinced the two are equivalents.

Cars, aye. Bikes would depend on the situation imo. But it's not something I have to bother about so quite why I get so involved is anyone's guess.

Edit: Is this the internet equivalent of not going to bed on an argument?

I am watching Murray Nadal so forgive me if I am not cheerful!

The problem with the internet is that when you know your own mind and state it as such it often comes over as if you are narrow minded.

I am nothing like that, but I know my position on certain things and speak accordingly.

Coup de grace from taffy.

For those who've read this entire thread, I will try to summarise. Just in case you need a little help.

If you want to you should.
If you don't then that's your choice.
If you don't and by some act of misfortune or error you smack your bonce then it was your decision based on your riding circumstances
If you do and you never fall off then you need to decide the opportunity cost of that £100

No-one will win this row as there's no victory to be had. I feel those who do or don't will find enough here to support their view.

As for the posturing? Well it's inevitable. Would helmets be worn for the fight?

Doctor Bond makes a good point actually - My commute is not long, but it is on an A road during rush hour into (and out of obviously) London, also, my helmet cost £12.99 (as someone mentioned they may be put off by the cost) and I am usually basically a dribbling, fetid zombie until my 4 shot Macchiato slaps my sorry brain into action about 15 minutes after rocking up to work.
