Thanks for that. It's to go on this lovely Raymond Clerc, so it has to look the part. The original fork got replaced by carbon and the owner 'threw the old one away'Its 1".
As @bikeworkshop notes it has a profiled/wide crown to match the head tube shaping of the 992 frame. Have a look at mine here to see. So it will probably look a bit odd on a round tubed frame. I would find a 979 fork if you want an alu fork that goes better with a more traditional headset/headtube.
It's straight up and down, no taper or integral headset or anything. Good old fashioned for quill stemCan you post a photo of the inside of the head tube?
I'm thinking that or there's a very clean Alan inch fork available locally. Basically it's got to be a silver colour alu fork or nothing!30mm I.d. for an inch threaded headset?
The 992 would look ok on a few headset models, but a bit "shelfy" if the crown race sits much under the bottom cup - most do.
Can't you use a virus 979 fork or similar? They are designed for external inch headsets.
