Vitus 992 Fork query?

I need one of these forks as a donor for a vintage Sabliere aluminium frame (inch). Was the 992 inch or inch eighth forks? Don't fancy hitting and hoping with this one.

The more common vitus 979? Was inch. Had quite a few over the years.

The 992 had internal bearings, but as a threaded headset/quill stem setup, it was inch also iirc, but with a wide crown to cover the head tube.

We've had a couple, inch and an eighth quill is so rare in road, i'd have noticed it.

Its 1".

As @bikeworkshop notes it has a profiled/wide crown to match the head tube shaping of the 992 frame. Have a look at mine here to see. So it will probably look a bit odd on a round tubed frame. I would find a 979 fork if you want an alu fork that goes better with a more traditional headset/headtube.

Thanks for that. It's to go on this lovely Raymond Clerc, so it has to look the part. The original fork got replaced by carbon and the owner 'threw the old one away' 😫

30mm I.d. for an inch threaded headset?
The 992 would look ok on a few headset models, but a bit "shelfy" if the crown race sits much under the bottom cup - most do.
Can't you use a virus 979 fork or similar? They are designed for external inch headsets.

I'm thinking that or there's a very clean Alan inch fork available locally. Basically it's got to be a silver colour alu fork or nothing!
