Viscount Aerospace.. but which one?

I can only get the forks down so far before they foul on the sliding part of the movable jaw! I will try some combinations of rotating the whole frame around and holding different bits to see what works.
The jaws are just magnetic urethane soft inserts with various pre formed cutouts. Very useful for holding (and not marring) round objects.

Hopped in the car this morning and made an early visit to the Big One jumble down at Chalfont St Peter.
As always an excellent selection of bikes and bits to be had, I didn't go too wild but got a few small parts for this project and a couple for another more modern machine (the pedals and stem).

Another SR stem if I chop the stuck one, a suitably vintage band on bottle cage, new hoods for the levers and matching tape. Along with a new centre pull hanger, top tube cable clips (Dura Ace!) and some crank dust caps.

A successful half hour in the garage now has the BB removed. I popped off the bearing seals, drilled/yanked out the ball retainers, then pushed all the balls to one side and tapped out the axle.
Then I used my headset cup remover to tap out the outer races.

The axle is soaking in penetrating oil before I attempt to bash off the inner races, the BB shell needs a clean and wire brush but would then be ready to press in new bearings, once the frame is cleaned and painted.

Stem still not out 😂

Took the frame into work to use the Big Vice™

My mission was successful. 😁

Had to chop the top off the stem, and then heat the steerer as @Guinessisgoodforyou suggested. Then grabbed the stem stub with our longest slip joint pliers and wound it out (think the angle cut at the bottom of the stem helped to guide it up).

Loads of rust as expected, I'll need the new stem I bought but very happy with the progress! 😃
