is that some kind of brake-disc protection on the front wheel of the bike just beyond the lady in black in the upper right part of your pic?

It's so you don't burn yourself accidentally touching the disc after that long descent.

Several of the wheels have an ornamental wheel disc fitted by the looks of it. As well as those little cards that display your club membership and political leanings.

Oh yes, I’d missed that I had actually strayed into another county! That’s what happens when you only just live in Yorkshire. I will have to edit that…

Did this today. Bad lactic build up from running down a dream on Thursday, and then driving 7 hours on Friday without dealing with it. Knew it was going to hurt...was laughing to myself about it while I was running. Could hardly walk yesterday. Had to get out today. Huge relief.

Just under 15 miles, muddy and miserable, but so worth it.
