Full on day today - I didn't even get up from my desk all day... and it was a lovely day (About 17C, sunny and dry) .so I was really up for a Gwerch after work.. Different route tonight, I haven't ridden down the towpath for a week or two, so off I went. I do love my Guerciotti...I've never actually properly restored it, I kinda threw bits I had on it, which is why it has a Ritchey seat post, flat Nitto bars and Shimano brake levers . I enjoy riding it too much to take it apart at the moment...but I'll do it eventually.
Crucially, I forgot two things:
1. My glasses
2. Flies are BACK!
Individually, neither are a problem. Together, however they are a nightmare - literally clouds of flies - all of them wanted to live in my eyeballs.
I continued to ride, sometimes squinting, sometimes with one eye closed, tears containing bits of partially dissolved fly rolling down my cheeks, swearing randomly.
The sunset was nice, if only I could have seen it properly through the fly carcasses accumulating on my corneas.
Now I know why rowers face backwards.....
Good one today - finally managed to do the segment I've been wanting to do for a little while. (Nailsea / Tickenham / Cadbury Camp / Clapton-in-Gordano / Clevedon). Only just over an hour to do, but could easily be linked on to a longer ride when I've got more time
Mainly clear skies with some high cloud. 8 degrees but felt like 5 and under in the sheltered spots. 15mph E breeze remains in place as it has done the last week or so. Trails dry as a bone the mud is from the weekend
