Rode to my old childhood playground..





.. everytime i come, it gets more extreme




I'd only been there for 5mins and i came off on the berm

Grazed my saddle, my grip, my hip and my arm








..rode through the park on the way home


..stopped for an apple

Overnight stay in Exeter for work, so yesterday morning I had a window to get out there. Chilly 8-9 degrees, but a very light 3-4mph W breeze. Clearish skies and a glorious sunrise. Pretty darn ace for an hours blast before the grind, and three times as fast on Simone than on the single-speed A'ha

It always was! (30 years ago ) went there a few times, although we spent more time in Exeter or at Double Locks or The Turf , which were pubs along the canal that runs from Exeter past Exminster.

Me and the team were at the Double Locks on Tuesday night. Proper nice even though the weather was shite.

My guess is its a repurposed old building, then doubling as camouflage - although some pillbox were built to fool aerial reconnaissance - I think this one is purpose built:

Riding around Lydbrook and Goodrich, kerne Bridge, very handsome, 1825: Interestingly the toll was "1d for every person crossing the bridge riding on or in a wheeled vehicle" And also: "1d for every ass" the old railway bridge at Lydbrook, sadly recently lost its deck:

I Found some tarmac free tracks in the woods.

With the bells of the charming alpine church at Welsh Bicknor
(ironically placed in England)
tolling on the hour.
Beautiful parkland on the hill's top.
