Today's Ride

Another lunchtime ride round what is quickly becoming my usual route (Clevedon). This time I went a little further & found there's a perfectly flat quarter mile of concrete along the sea front that you can absolutely blast along. I also found a weird little swampy creek with some boats tied up

Lovely day to be out on the bike today.

Farmer had ploughed the final 1/2 mile or so of the bridleway which is a bit annoying, doesn’t look it from here but was very tough riding across it. At least it wasn’t too sticky.

Soon compensated for the effort with coffee and cake at the reservoir.

Almost the same route today, just in the opposite direction. Extremely hot and more bearable in motion having some airflow.

“Working” on the final setup for my first multi day trip in two weeks, getting more excited day by day 🤓

During the ride last weekend, I did with a not properly seated tire (Error 1), one of the alu nipples (Error 2) I used building the wheels snapped "ding" while braking, truing the wheel again I’ve torn off one of the opposite DT Revolution (Error 3) spokes 🤨

Coincidence or my poor wheel building skills, who knows. Well, they’ve lasted 5 years and better now than in 2 weeks. Luckily I had built a second wheelset with Edco hubs, Competition spokes and the same rims.

Thinking about removing mudguards, going without the dynamo hub front wheel and light to save some weight. And even use 48 mm Herse slick tires from the other bike to have a faster ride 🤔

Will have to wait for the weather forecast although rain in south France is probably not likely in September and I have no plans riding in the dark.

Or take the “modern” bike right away?

A crazy few weeks are over, so finally I could get back on the saddle with a couple of rides on Friday:
