Today's Ride

Worst "Bike" on here?
First time I've posted it as I'm very embarrassed lol. Well it gets me back out there I guess. Wont be posting in here often as I just do the same route 5 days a week. Bumped into a mate today and stopped for a quick chat as well as taking pictures so was out for a while longer then usual.

Well….the South Downs is just a mountain-biking paradise really…hundreds of km of achingly beautiful chalk tracks, places to play in the singletrack in Friston Forest and Stanmer Woods….

…down a track at full bore… following Anthony on a long little-used bridleway, grass so long that I can’t see the surface of the ground and just have to trust the bike…grass an unfeasible green and the sea glinting in the distance…just the hiss of the grass against my wheels…a real zen moment…

…only we stop for breath and work out the dates…that day was 37 years ago, genuinely the last time we rode this track. On a Dawes Ranger. Today I am riding up the hill with Anthony and my 18 year old son, and we are fit and strong and hauling our way up on three Stantons - ti 29, ti 29 and steel 27.5. Another gorgeous day…the grass moving like water in the wind and the off shore wind turbines reminding us of changed relationship with the planet compared with 37 years ago…the Grom doing what may be his last South Downs ride before heading off to higher education in Wales. Whooooosh the sound of time flying……

Great that you're out five days a week -- doesn't matter what you're riding as far as I'm concerned. Looking forward to your updates.

Fairy mundane ride on local roads last night, drizzly conditions throughout, but first try out for my new Cateye bar end mirror.
What a game changer, being able to see what's coming up behind made me feel much more relaxed.
