Today's Ride

Still clicking, maybe it's the left pedal or the loose chain lock, anyway just riding in the plain today

Cold, wind and rain this morning. Cold, wind but sun this afternoon. And just enough time for a last ride of the year, so it was a quick blast to the sea and back again.

Hallelujah! First ride since 15 December. The weather, you've guessed it/experienced it, has been shocking. Since then and now, there have been 2 4 hour daytime windows when the wind dropped below 20mph and/or it wasn't pissing down. Window 1 resulted in a great 9 mile run, window 2 was a great Boxing Day early morning walk.

Today, 6-7mph WSW wind (barely anything in spots), 7 degrees, bit lower in the valleys. Dry for the first half, light rain second half, with a downpour just as I pulled up to the garage. Quelle surprise! Dark. Very dark. But absolutely fabulous being in the saddle.

NW breeze, 15-17mph, less in the valleys. Sodden roads with showers, some heavy. Soaked. A chilly 5 degrees. Dark.

Bugger off winter; the worst season by a country mile.

Trip over to Todmorden, via the Rochdale canal (went through Bury, Heywood and joined it at Castleton). Back via Bacup / Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom.

About 46 miles. Return leg was much harder, the flat canal run spoiled me.

Still, a good days riding.

Legs felt it today,think it was that North wind that did it. 40 miles with 2,136 feet of elevation.
Don't believe everything you read !

But in this case it was true !
