Today's Ride

Took a fall on a greasy corner on way home Saturday & my knee's was a bit battered so gave the ebike a run to work & back on Sunday for a bit of a rest. Just had a new drive-train & running sweet. Even though the chain wasn't worn to normal point of changing, the jockey's, cassette & chain-ring were shot. By the Tyne.

Hope you're ok mate.

It's still spring here but we've had a bit of a cold snap and a lot of windy weather, so when today dawned calm I took the '98 Explosif for a bit of a pootle around the dirt roads outside town. I'd forgotten how nicely it rides despite the hard life it's had. There's still a bit of fettling to be done, but had a blast.

One thing Aussie riders have to look out for this time of year is Magpies, which become hyper-territorial with chicks in the nest and swoop on passing cyclists to warn them away. This happened today during a quiet, reflective section of the ride, causing some rapid acceleration and desperate ducking as the fearsome fowl made three very close passes. No actual contact was made but I've heard legends of cyclists staggering home with bloody wounds to neck and ears so wasn't taking any chances.

Any idea the age of that fellow? Don't see lads like him in my neck of the woods. Aliens must not have needed directions here
These aren't prehistoric, they were carved to the hillsides in the 18th century by some funny university students, as far as i know.

ok, so not today's but yesterday's ride was the idea of and spent with Mrs. hombre. a gentle 70 km long lake-around tour. we was fortuante enough to have this day between two rainy ones with light cloud coverage and comfortable mid twenties °C temp.
