Today's Ride

I love seeing Pip on Cog. I'm sure he's getting a kick out of it, somewhere along that endless, perfect singletrack he's riding. Nice work doing these write ups Al.

Was that a 'note to self' to check? Definitely Bike of The Year in 1993 but I don't recall 95

Last weekends forecast looked wall to wall wet. But after a very soggy Saturday morning, it cleared and after a week out of the saddle I needed to get a solid session on the road. So I decided to see how busy St Ives was. I can confirm it was heaving still 🤣

I forgot about the double climb out but it's all good. I took in Lelant Downs for the first time which was really nice, to get off the main road, before the joining up at Cripplesease, for Nancledra, big town, Mousehole, Sancreed and home. Lovely stuff.

Dark, sun rising around 07:00/07:10, was meant to be dry but you guessed it, random shower off the Atlantic between HQ and Sennen livened things up. Steady SW breeze around 12mph, much less than yesterday. Around the shower, high broken cloud, so felt and looked clear. 13 to 12 degrees, a really lovely morning leg stretcher, with another stop at Sancreed Beacon.

I spent Sunday afternoon walking around the Beacon and surrounding area with Coop. It was pretty good, especially the hidden holy well about half a mile from here. Super secluded, it had some proper good energy.

Dark, steady SW breeze, fairly mild 12-13 degrees, very comfortable once the legs were pumping. High cloud, clear breaks, all in all, a really ace early morning ride with another lovely sunrise. Encountered two lots of deer crossing Gear Hill. I think the last time I was on a bike and had to wait for deer to pass was when I was a kid on my Raleigh Maverick

A very windy, sunny and warm, then windy, cloudy and rainy day, I feel the wind should get another mention as well. Fine if your not trying to pedal into it, also fine if you are not trying to pedal into it in the rain.

The wind was the main focal point of todays ride, creating almost laughable situations out in the open and a loud soundtrack in the woods. Ah, the woods, covered in branches, leaves and acorns, perfect for standing up and cranking up a hill, spinning more than on wet muddy trails.

It was really warm, warm when the sun was out at the start of the ride and the air also, was very warm,. The small rain shower at the end of the ride was quite welcome.

The trails were fun as usual, fast and flowing, though it was very busy today, lots of walkers for some reason. Beautiful colours in the woods again and another great ride.

finally, a friday afternoon ride. many sunny days from monday, but family and work commitment kept me away from riding, so when I saw the chance this afternoon I took it of course. warm, sunny weather with a few light clouds. nobody out on the trails (except for a friendly off-roader and a smiling milf) perfect! :)
