Today's Ride

A misty cool morning. It did get a lot warmer later but i was home on the garden by then, in-between watching the WC DH races.
A lap around my local woods today which were surprisingly quiet, saw quite a few birds which recently have not been about, not sure why, anyway the woods were alive with sounds. It did rain in the night but the ground is so dry it was still hard and running nice and quick, always good so you can float over the roots instead of smash through them.
Still really tired from the school holidays, after next week and a deserved rest I will be able to start traveling a bit further out and hitting some of the better local woods and singletrack again.

Cheltenham had a half marathon today so I took advantage of the closed roads . I Started about 20 Minutes before the runners were released. A few other cyclists had the same idea.
Well, really heavy rain last night and complete grey cloud cover this morning along with rain showers created an air of uncertainty over today's ride. I had decided i was prepared to get wet and was going out regardless, my friend took a bit of persuading. It actually turned out really nice and by half way through the ride we were wishing it was a bit cooler and would have welcomed a spot of rain.
Today's ride was a really nice loop i haven't been on for a long time, taking in most types of tracks and trails, and despite the heavy rains which did leave some large puddles in places, the trails were still hard and running quick, only stopped a few times as we were to caught up in the riding. A couple of hours later found us at an old bmx track we used to ride at, and after a couple of laps the realization of a long ride home ahead. Quite a few long drags but some really nice singletrack and trails to break it up.
Really tired now and despite a fun ride quite glad to be back, oh, and the last picture, we did spend a while seriously contemplating rescuing Mr Hopper

A wet, humid hot ride today. Nice when moving, slight breeze, though very humid and almost tropical in the woods when stopped. Now i am home it has turned very warm again with blue skies.
A few others out today, feels a lot like a weekend, though plenty of sections to myself to enjoy. Lots of wasps for some reason and the first signs of Autumn. Great ride again.

Very busy last week on the road, so got the runs in every day, literally as well with one semi-aborted run on Wednesday evening with a Paula Radcliffe dash to some pub toilets 
Was still recovering on Friday but Saturday, I was crawling off the walls for a ride. I needed the miles so got a solid 240 minutes with barely a stop, so took just one picture, joining up with Gear Hill from the slog up Trewey Hill.
Sunday was a different state of affairs with rain forecast from 09:00. Easy time for an early morning dry one...but of course, the clouds, mist and rain descended from 07:30, so a soggy 90 minute affair, hence one, reluctant picture to prove I got out

Forecast rain for today so got out early to try to miss it. Looks like some last night but today was another very warm and humid day and managed to miss any storms.
Decided on a ride around woods today, getting a bit of fitness back so can enjoy some singletrack and physically handle all the roots again, sort of
The ground is still hard, dry and running fast, the foliage is still wet and with the humidity gives the woods a vague tropical feel, certainly better to keep moving than stop as the air is so warm. Kept a nice pace but had to stop a few times to catch my breath, always seemed to be when walkers were approaching which was handy.
A great ride, hopefully start to travel a bit further and onto some better tracks.
