Today's Ride

Another warm day, though the wind was a bit stronger but died down later in the day.

Legs were heavy today, not been riding much, it felt like someone had swapped my cassette for a road one.

The trails were fast, now drying out and hard-packed from all the traffic, it made for some great sections, of course the flip-side is the sandier trails were back to powder and nigh on impossible to ride unless you have enough speed to carry you through, that wasn't happening for me today. Lots of dog walkers out today but it must be the weather as they all were jolly and all said or returned a friendly greeting.

Nice ride on a nice sunny day. 20210323_122847e.jpg 20210323_122528d.jpg 20210323_115453c.jpg 20210323_114438b.jpg 20210323_113637a.jpg

What a beautiful day, sunny and very warm.

Went for a ride up to Pines today, was hard work when out in the open due to the heat, the woods were more shady but were sheltered from any breeze, plus the trails were riding super-fast so extra energy was spent.

A lot of the trails in Pines were closed due to forestry work, though they were not working today so it was just a case of hoping over the felled trees blocking the entrance to some of the trail sections and then having the rest of the trail to myself. Saw a few on the easier trails, all were older and on e-bikes, its great to see older generations enjoying the trails too.

Other than a few other cyclists and the odd dog-walker, the trails were fairly quiet all day, the only others i saw were a large group of kids enjoying the hot weather and swimming in the river, looked great fun.

A great ride on a glorious day. 20210330_123722.jpg 20210330_124016.jpg 20210330_131151.jpg 20210330_131202.jpg 20210330_132739.jpg 20210330_133037.jpg 20210330_141203.jpg

Wow! Looks very dry there Mark

Back on the bike after a week off looking after the PIC. I did get in early morning walks with Coop which were ace, but I can't lie, the morning leg grind is the best.

Pleasant morning, some blue sky, high cloud about 9/10 degrees but the sea fog rolled in from Mounts Bay over the hills and soon I was cycling through runny-honey. Good for the legs, less so for visibility so glad I still had lights on. This picture doesn't really tell the full story but it's a good indicator ;)

Hazy skies and white sun. 10mph breeze, very comfortable 9 degrees rising to 12 by just after 8. Had a call at 08:30 so thought I'd take a shorter route...ended up taking a longer one because the weather was nice and the legs were humming.

Spring, even a summer perhaps, was in the air, so much so I needed to take off my jacket. So there was time for a picture: on the left is Sancreed and to the right of it, the Beacon. The road I was on keeps the right and pops up and over those hills back to HQ. Lovely stuff 👌

Cold today. Complete contrast to the last few days, cold so jacket instead of t-shirt, though warming up by the time i was heading back.

A short ride today, basically wanted to check if a local trail had opened back up, it has/had some nice sections of singletrack, though the council has gone crazy laying cycle tracks everywhere, even when not ideal or needed. Not looking forward to the result tbh. I was resting from a long and very hot day yesterday, but even though i intended to just ride a short loop the Brodie made me go that little bit further.

I say this a lot, but riding 1x a lot makes me forget how much nicer, easier and quicker 3x is. Flying today down tracks that usually can be a bit of a slog. Also as ive mentioned before, the m737 shifters/gears are a delight, much nicer and smoother than my more modern XT gears. I had a really enjoyable ride. 20210401_140403.jpg 20210401_141348.jpg 20210401_142032.jpg 20210401_143111.jpg 20210401_143135.jpg 20210401_143538.jpg

Thought I’d post up here, to encourage myself to keep getting out. First ride this morning after a full hip replacement six weeks ago. A short 4 mile loop was enough to tell that there’s a big improvement, but it’s going to take a bit of time. Now my lungs have no excuse!

Great news! Well done. I was amazed when our neighbour was out in same period with new hip. He's a roadie & went on to overdo it however. I had an ankle replacement 6 weeks ago & will be boot/crutches for another 2 & then hopefully on the stationary bike. Looking forward to the green light for proper rides at around 12 weeks.
