Today's Ride

Re:

No ride on Friday and Monday as we were away down west for Project GTFOOL.

Back on it today, chilly 7 with a little breeze, clear skies. I'm STILL waiting to pick up with Esatto which is frustrating since now is the season for it. Anyway, here's St Georges Garrison church just outside Woolwich.

Have to ask, what is project GTFOOL al? :?

Also been a few days without much time, mostly due to the school holidays and glorious stormy weather.

Today i had the morning free so as it was sunny i went out for a quick ride. It was warm in the sun, the breeze was cool but once going i soon got too warm and had to take the coat off. The trails were packed, more than i have ever seen them, must be the lull in the miserable weather of late. Most were jolly, but a few were rather grumpy, though hopefully the sun and fresh air will help them get through the rest of the day 8)

A great ride, on a nice crisp autumn day.

Re:

Damp start with a light drizzle starting around 07:30. Not too chilly 9 but cooler on the hills, especially on the descents.

Murky look back to Chelsfield and Orpington:

Good luck with project GTFOOL... it’s a life changer, believe me.

One of my most cherished memories is that of Friday the 27th June 2008.... standing in a packed commuter train travelling out of London on the “muggers line” (Liverpool st to Enfield) with a big stupid grin on my face knowing I would be driving a hire van the next day to Yorkshire. :D

Re:

I'm not suggesting anyone who owns a GT is a fool by the way

Mild 14 degrees with a gentle breeze, increasing slightly on higher ground. Damp but no rain. Did the Friday morning longer loop over to Shoreham whilst the adjusted mornings are still "bright". Fairly quiet roads thanks to half-term.

Just realised I managed to get the Shoreham cross in shot (on the hill)

Re:

I've managed to get out a couple of times this week. I've finally completed the Lee Valley path. The weather has been really poor: most of the towpath is flooded. The M-Trax and I are both in temporary accommodation at the moment. Fortunately lockdown offers a bit more stability.

Enfield to Tottenham Hale and back, including an excursion across Tottenham Marshes.

Along the towpath was quite mild. Across the marshes noticeably chilly.

Several rides, the longest being about 16 miles. Slow pace - not much riding for about a month has taken its toll on my fitness.

Temperatures varying over the two days of 7°c - 15°c

Re:

Indeed the weather has been typically autumnal with long spells of rain with blustery winds. I ran another virtual Reading Half marathon on Sunday in very damp conditions, gave Monday a miss as it was pelting down, then another wet run yesterday.

But today and the next few days looks much better. Chilly 3 degrees, rising maybe to 4 or 5 by 08:15. Little to no breeze, glorious blue skies and golden sunshine :D

The iconic Smoke and Dart combo is the weapon of choice given the conditions. The paddle design eats up boggy, squelchy single-track for breakfast.

^^^ Golden 8)

Woke up this morning feeling tired, that along with my recurring back injury and the fact it was pretty chilly really didn't do much to inspire me to go out for a bike ride.

I forced myself to though and once out i quickly warmed up. The trails were mostly dry and the sun was warm when it did pop its head out. It was very busy, lots of walkers, including one guy with 15 or so Collies, horse riders and mountain bikers. I was going to stay out longer as the weather was quite nice once out but i could feel my back/hip reminding me it was still sore so i did a normal loop.

It was a great riding day and hopefully the weather stays like this for a while longer.
