Today's Ride

Re:

Wednesday's ride resulted in extra Savlon after I cleaned up at home. Mother nature is taking over the lines.

Yesterday was a wash out so went for a soggy run instead.

Which meant today we had mud for the first time in 5-6 weeks. Nothing crazy but it was good to feel the different traction levels to mix things up a bit.

Re:

Riding an unfamiliar bike always slows things down a bit. This morning was the first time I've ridden titanium, and the first time I've ridden disk brakes, so I was quite wary. There is that nagging fear of damaging and / or binning it hanging in the air. So I'm holding back a bit. The bike needs a few more adjustments and a change of tyres, but for now it'll do.

Knocked out an hour in quite muddy conditions over a few trails that were bone-shattering on the Mongrel - I was wide-eyed with surprise after. I'm gobsmacked by how it rides over rough stuff.

Everywhere but the roads was / were deserted - a bit of rain is great for clearing the countryside.

14°c and a light breeze. Ideal conditions

Re:

Lovely morning. Had a couple of hours free. 25 miles later feeling invigorated and ready to face anything, or a trip to the tip as was the case this morning.

Lots of cyclists on and off-road this morning. Took the RSP, gliding along wrapped up in the soft and silky ride. 'I remember when it was really bumpy along here...' God it's so good.

I'm having to go further out to find new trails now.

14-16°c. Very little wind, except for a light south-westerly breeze on the way home. Started off sunny, becoming grey by the time I got home.

I'd love to get out on some proper hills...ah well, perhaps not too long to wait now.

Meanwhile on the flat stuff, it's going to be a very special day tomorrow so I rode a unicorn to get into the mood

Re:

With the RSP being up for sale, the C16r being dismantled, the Stumpjumper being specced for my partner, and the MT4 unavailable, I had to rummage around and put the Mtrax together. Otherwise nothing to ride, and that is unacceptable.

This is a first though. I've not ridden a bike I've put together myself before.
I give myself 6/10 - not a bad effort. It will be better when the other forks are ready.

Lovely sunny day. Late afternoon was a bit hot for a ride. Should have gone out earlier.

About 15 miles as I only had just over an hour.

On the way home had a spill, fell awkwardly, and managed to put a couple of teeth from the large ring through the back of my thigh. That smarts a bit.

Re:

No agenda - just want to get out and ride every day.
So the temperature has stepped up a notch or two, and a lie-in, coupled with a blazing afternoon, meant an early evening ride.

Most of my rides are set around 'mealtimes', as the countryside, consistently, tends to go quiet around breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Even though, to some degree, we are still under curfew, you wouldn't know. Traffic is back, hand in hand with ignorance and stupidity.
The good thing is, out in the sticks things are much quieter. I'm not a people person. I'm not into busy. Peace and quiet is bliss. Full lockdown was bliss. I'm going to miss it.

27°C - even at 7pm. Sun, Sun, sun.
15 miles. Sweating buckets.

Managed to stay on the bike today.

Not had time to get out for a few days but needed to pick my van up from the garage after it's service. Good excuse for a 5 mile blast down to Blaydon & the Tyne.
