An interesting and fun ride in The City (San Francisco) today: the 22nd Annual “Tour of the San Francisco Hills” ride. About 50-60 riders met to navigate ~24 miles and ~4200 feet of climbing up and down some of its very steepest hills.

It was my first time attending and I hewed to the recommended bike setup: a MTB with as little suspension, as low gearing and as skinny tires as you can.

The route and elevation profile:

Indeed by far the most interesting thread on RB and almost the only one I ever post to. Provides great opportunities to re-visit sunny California w/o leaving the comfort of my bed... and lots of other places. Also, reminds me that I basically ride in a fridge for the most part of the year. Yesterday the first sort of winter ride with temps around 37F/3C. Some snow still left on the bridge after a freezing night.

Today feels almost like the summer's back with temps around 50F/10C so went out for a long one along deserted country lanes. The most exciting was this old Impala sitting in the middle of nowhere... waiting for a better day.

I love your frames.

Think I best save for a few years and you can build me one. Seriously..

Dry as it is, a scant rain a week ago left enough moisture for a few fungi to sprout in the canyons on the northern sides of the hills. Rode alone yesterday, no selfies, but I saw an enormous mushroom.
