I thought the frames were glued with the joints under pressure?

I'd seek as much advice as you possibly can before proceeding with this. I think there is an ex Raleigh employee on the forum (can't think of his user name), he might be able to give you more info on the factory process.

And yeah, its deffo a 1" headset, just measured it..

Which bit are you measuring? I don't know of any of those Raleigh bonded Ti frames that weren't 1-1/8in. Doesn't mean they don't exist, but it might save you some time if it's actually a more convenient size
