threaded headset spacer..can i do this?

hi, in order to avoid cutting the steerer down abit i have fitted a 5mm alu spacer that takes up the gap nicely between topcap and locknut and, looks ok.

although it seems a straight swap for the supplied penny washer type i have never done this and just need a thumbs up or down consensus.

Got 3 bikes running a similar spacer as I don't want to have to cut the steerer down. You'll have no problems.

will be fine, ran mine like that for ages until I bought some blades.

It's not pretty but it works. And with some stems a necessary now we're all old gits who need to have the bars a couple of cm higher up.
