I've painted a few frames in schemes that weren't their own although very few have actually changed brand for the better, normally I like to do things close to original if I know what a particular frame is but sometimes frames come to me that are 30, 40, 50 plus years old and any semblance of originality is long gone so that just isn't possible.
The problem of course comes if a non original bike is sold on because I can be as honest as I like about a bikes history but if a subsequent owner further down the chain isn't given that info or decides to ignore it there is nothing I can do about that and it does need to be thought about. As a buyer I have always been a great believer in buyer beware but not everyone is unfortunately.
