thought i'd give a cancer operation update

Agreed. Sounds like you're doing amazing.

You're mobile, and doing a bit of walking about albeit with some effort - and needing plenty of rests. That's to be expected.
The rest is essential for healing. Anaesthetic can take weeks to properly wear off.

IIRC, one of the challenges of someone healing after a trauma is that they need additional nutrition - even while they are doing nothing for healing and repair (e.g. say burn survivor from a car accident need 5,000+ calories a day IIRC). Make sure you are eating enough unless advised otherwise. I lost a ton of weight after my last surgery, and recall one of my mountain biking mates looking at me concerned and shocked as we were getting changed after a day long Xmas ride 4 months later.

You'll be back to everything soon enough, and muscle memory is definitely a thing - the capacity and fitness comes back really quickly, even after a month or two of not doing an activity. The body is really good at returning to normal.

Wishing you all the best. Just had a scare myself, thankfully OK. Makes you start to think a bit differently.

went for a walk, what i did should take about 5 mins, took about 20mins, got in slept for 3 hours!!

defo feeling better though overall, got an appointment tomorrow to have dressings changed at the local health centre, will try to walk again after that. it seems amazing to me how much sleep i need at the moment.

Had another nurse appointment to get the dressings changed, massive rash on my back that I didn't know about, well I thought it was a little itchy but didn't think much of it. Turns out I'm allergic to something, not sure what, only happened in the last 2 days. Very odd. So now on anti histamine for that as well.
