Those ****** at VAG!

Those are figures from the current PSA sourced Discovery Sport.

My neighbour has never bettered 31mpg at best

*after the VW thing and researching other manufacturers secretive recalls*

I wouldnt touch any new car now, even with the assistance of a pointy stick.

There are thousands upon thousands of perfectly adequate 2nd hand vehicles that perform the same job with virtually the same efficiency (and more in some cases) for a fraction of the costs involved.

If the masses realized that there is absolutely nothing environmentally friendly in any way shape or form about cars, maybe things will change. The Bluemotion bullshit on that huge VW pickup for instance.

I dont give a flying **** about what happens at the exhaust pipe, its what you have to put in every five minutes and where it comes from, the processes involved in getting it and the processes involved in the manufacturing of the vehicles in the first place.

Zero emission electric cars? what about the batteries, what about the nasty shite given off by the tyres? The Nissan Leaf is a heavy old bugger - why no photo voltaic cells ANYWHERE on that stupid car?

We've been fed a giant steaming turd of an industry for too long and its too late. It will take generations to sort out.

Re:

Nothing "eco" about any diesel engine and the latest debacle from VAG just proves it, stick with good old petrol I say!

I'm trying to use the hot air I give off as a form of fuel. Smugness seems to work too.

Please can someone explain the Euro 5 and 6 standards to me because I find them rather confusing. From the info I've read it seems that all new cars must meet these standards, Euro 6 as of september 1st this year. The Euro 5 and 6 standards state 1g/km of CO2 for a petrol car and 0.5g/km for diesel.

Those numbers are for CO, not CO2.

Thanks I was thinking a new discovery was on the wish list but a dirty Frenchie engine has pushed me back to an M135i

That is a strange pair to choose between, so it is! Is the Beemer even all wheel drive?

I have to admit, I am quietly smug blasting about in an old Rangy, regardless of the lack of modern handling and sophistication! LPG is cleaner than petrol, and actually has performance benefits, not that she is built for speed. Pulls like a tug and comfy for four no more.

I wouldn't know where to start with 'new' vehicles, probably a Beemer or perhaps a Dacia.

Weird times.
