The "new" bottom bracket standard.

All we need now is an end to integrated headsets (similar abominations which used the frame as a bearing fit surface) and our work will be done!

The next thing you know we'll be going back to the cottered crankset which you can still get pins for any way :facepalm: ..

I'm still using the square taper chainsets but i had no idea of what was being used for downhill tbh as i just don't keep track of it ..

it's a bit different from old 7 speed, and there are lots of sound technical reasons for it, not least stronger wheels

That sounds interesting so do you know much about it ? ..

not masses. But it uses 10/11 speed spacing to produce a much narrower 7 speed cassette, which means the hub flanges can be further out, reducing the amount of dish (sometimes they can be dishless) and making the wheel stronger
