The "new" bottom bracket standard.

Back we go again to the threaded bottom bracket fitting we've been using for nearly a century: http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/artic ... ind-47922/

It'll be flared trousers again next week, or are they already in? I lose track/interest.

All we need now is an end to integrated headsets (similar abominations which used the frame as a bearing fit surface) and our work will be done!

I'm still using the square taper chainsets but i had no idea of what was being used for downhill tbh as i just don't keep track of it ..

They've already gone back to 7-speed (for downhill) :roll:

it's a bit different from old 7 speed, and there are lots of sound technical reasons for it, not least stronger wheels

not masses. But it uses 10/11 speed spacing to produce a much narrower 7 speed cassette, which means the hub flanges can be further out, reducing the amount of dish (sometimes they can be dishless) and making the wheel stronger
