I know, the pace has two boosters. I have one myself.
But your brake is on the front of the fork. It should be behind as also shown by the pic you posted:

 Just checked a couple of pics and it seems that you are right... Back to the shed I guess...

I dont think so. Did you look at the linked GT catalog?
The higher the number, the "cheaper" the bike was in the spec. It has nothing to do with "age" or "version"

In the beginning, the top models had a chromo rear end. Later, they switched to alu and kept the chromo for the lower range. As they did with the shock.
So at least their sales department was thinking aluminum and piggiback is better ;)
your explanation isn't correct, as here's a pic of RTS 3 alu rear frame,
posted page 5 by Gadro: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;start=45
that is also the model I got to use for one day back then.
my guess is that your cataloge is fake or not correct, is that possible?

That changed over the years.
Perhaps in 95 all the RTS were produced in Taiwan and they canceled the cromo rear end completely. That would be logical, as they started production of the LTS/STS

What year is that bike?

Re:

anyway, I broke my rts frame, so I'm left with the pieces:
links and the 2 shocks, older and newer with piggy.
can anyone use them?

How much after for the piggy?

Just checked the 1996 catalog. As I suspected, all RTS's then had a aluminum rear.

I would think, that RTS-3 is a 95 or even later year model. The fork is an Indy- they came out in 96/97 iirc.

@ GT- Me perhaps  But the shipping cost will kill me.

Re:

The STS with good modern settings is still a very good/fast enduro bike as proven again yesterday,
I'm still stunning my friends who drive brand new expensive enduro bikes and pass them in speed as in the most technical sections.

For many owners here:
keep the back low by unscrewing the shock,
almost all sts's here are way to high up in the rear.

the STS in the shape it was build for:
