Now this is a longshot....

On a left hand XT M739 V brake lever there is a small plasic insert that screws into the lever where the barrel of the cable goes. It is secured by 2 very small screws. It stops the roller from moving around inside the hole of the lever, and therefore gives a stronger pull on the brakes.

Does anybody have what I seek please?

Are any of these what you're after?

The two in the foreground are from some modern XT M770 V levers, but I'm pretty sure that the other four are from XT M739 V levers.

BTW I was under the impression that leaving them in meant that the servo-wave mechanism was restricted therefore reducing available power. I seem to recall dire warnings in the manual at the time, that removing these things unleashed the full power of the V-brakes and doing so could result in certain death for inexperienced riders, and as such should only be removed by pro riders.... Or something like that....
Anyway get in touch if they are what your looking for and I'll sort you out.

Expoded Shimano Thumbie

No, my thumbie has not exploded, but I am looking for an exploded diagram of a Shimano right hand side/ rear mech thumbie, XT or Deore, either, they are essentially the same.

An alternative would be a link to somewhere were there are repair/ reassembly instructions.

I have a DX rear hub (circa 1991) and the freehub is slipping under heavy load. I have removed, cleaned and lubricated it but it still slips. :(

It is 7 speed and the hub is marked Shimano Deore DX FH-M650.

Shimano (Madison) are unable to offer a direct replacement (no suprise really).

Can anyone help, or know of an alternative that might fit instead?

I would like to try and keep the wheels going as they are the originals off my first Orange Aluminium O, are in excellent condition otherwise, and look great on my latest O.

Thanks.

Thanks, I'm willing to try anything.
If you have got one, give me a shout and hopefully we can come to some arrangement.

Cheers

Crankset help needed.

I have just got a set on Middleburn cranks that the previous user was using for a singlespeed ,what do I need to convert them back to triple ring ?cheers Dave.

Depends what you have already. Middle ring can bolt on with outer ring using longer bolts and assuming the spider has inner ring attachment holes then you'll just need inner ring bolts and possibly spacers too. Make sense?!?!
